Finally...a CAREER and a little more!

I finally got the ball rolling on my career as a teacher.  I know...I took me long enough! Specifically 3 years and 3 months after I graduated college with my degree in education.  I started the process of talking to Texas Teachers in January.  This started a little bit of a winding road.  Despite going to school for education, my eligibility for certification expired.  After talking to TWU and them offering me a "deficiency plan"( which was going to require me to go back to school and redo my student teaching), I graciously declined and proceeded with Texas Teachers.  I got all of the final paper work filled out and turned in!  I made my down payment last week!

I will be able to take my EC-6 Generalist exam in April and will know if I am eligible for hire by the end of next month!  What a blessing!  As I have said in a previous post, I am currently substitute teaching at Vista Academy in Garland.  I can not even begin to tell you how amazing my experience there has been.  I have finally rekindled a passion and love for teaching.  I have wonderful co-workers who love to spur one another on.  I am truly thankful for that because that is extremely rare to find in a work environment.  There is rumor to be several positions opening at our campus next year, as well as a brand new campus opening in North Garland.  I hope and pray God opens a spot up for me at one of the two locations. I will be grateful to take whatever he may send my way!

Enough about me...Jonas is still working part-time for the TSA as a Security Officer.  We are hoping he is able to move full-time soon or he is picked up with the FAA.  Jonas is currently going through his 4th hiring panel with the FAA since graduating with his air traffic control license.  The nice thing about Jonas having a job with the TSA is we can be a little bit more picky about where he is hired on with the FAA.  We are slowly coming to terms with the fact, that Jonas may never be hired as an air traffic controller.  Jonas and I are praying over other options and career paths for him.  He has such a desire to find a career and love it.  I am so very thankful to have a husband with a drive to care for us and our future family.

Our prayer, is that we will be able to settle down here in the area, specifically Wylie, by the end of the summer.  We were able to get a certificate of eligibility to apply for a VA Home Loan.  This is a blessing because it would allow us to get into a home with an approximate mortgage rate of 3.15% without a down payment.  We would also be exempt from Private Mortgage Insurance.  We are very anxious and excited to see where the Lord takes us over the next few weeks/months.  Please join us in prayer as we pray for our future careers and as we prepare to settle down and search for our home over the next few months.

Where has the time gone!!??

Ok...I definitely fell behind on my weekly weight loss blogging.  Well, I am sitting between 130 lbs and 131 lbs if you were curious...

Other then all of that...we have been quite busy!  I feel like we have had one thing after another every weekend! Between birthdays, wedding showers, and three baby showers (2 of which I helped host),  and a camping trip, I have stayed very busy! I have been HORRIBLE at taking pictures too!  I only got pictures at two of the showers.  Everything else is a complete blur!  There really isn't anything specific from that time to write about so I will leave you with a few pictures that I do have! If anyone has pictures from Landree's church shower I would love to have some of those :)

The above picture, is one of two showers I attended for Miss Landree Claire Aldrich.  Landree will be here next week!  I can't believe it!  I hosted (with several other sweet ladies) the church shower for Landree.  I was so busy running around, I forgot to stop and take a few pictures.  There were cameras there though so I am sure I few will pop up soon.  I am very anxious to meet my new niece!  If she is even half as precious as her big sister, we are all in a world of trouble!

The two pictures about are from a shower for Mr. Austin Reed Fernandez.  Austin's mommy Cortney, is one of my closest childhood friends.  It was such a blessing to be able to help host this shower for her and baby Austin.  It still blows my mind that we are all old enough to get married and have babies.  My fondest childhood memories include these two beautiful women.  I could not have be more blessed to have been able to grow up along side them.  Some friendships you just stumble upon and some are just ordained by God.  I can truly say the latter applies in this case :) How cool would it be if our kids were all 6 months apart like we were?  I guess that means we have to have boys first Brit :)

More exciting news to come in the next post :)
