Finally...a CAREER and a little more!

I finally got the ball rolling on my career as a teacher.  I know...I took me long enough! Specifically 3 years and 3 months after I graduated college with my degree in education.  I started the process of talking to Texas Teachers in January.  This started a little bit of a winding road.  Despite going to school for education, my eligibility for certification expired.  After talking to TWU and them offering me a "deficiency plan"( which was going to require me to go back to school and redo my student teaching), I graciously declined and proceeded with Texas Teachers.  I got all of the final paper work filled out and turned in!  I made my down payment last week!

I will be able to take my EC-6 Generalist exam in April and will know if I am eligible for hire by the end of next month!  What a blessing!  As I have said in a previous post, I am currently substitute teaching at Vista Academy in Garland.  I can not even begin to tell you how amazing my experience there has been.  I have finally rekindled a passion and love for teaching.  I have wonderful co-workers who love to spur one another on.  I am truly thankful for that because that is extremely rare to find in a work environment.  There is rumor to be several positions opening at our campus next year, as well as a brand new campus opening in North Garland.  I hope and pray God opens a spot up for me at one of the two locations. I will be grateful to take whatever he may send my way!

Enough about me...Jonas is still working part-time for the TSA as a Security Officer.  We are hoping he is able to move full-time soon or he is picked up with the FAA.  Jonas is currently going through his 4th hiring panel with the FAA since graduating with his air traffic control license.  The nice thing about Jonas having a job with the TSA is we can be a little bit more picky about where he is hired on with the FAA.  We are slowly coming to terms with the fact, that Jonas may never be hired as an air traffic controller.  Jonas and I are praying over other options and career paths for him.  He has such a desire to find a career and love it.  I am so very thankful to have a husband with a drive to care for us and our future family.

Our prayer, is that we will be able to settle down here in the area, specifically Wylie, by the end of the summer.  We were able to get a certificate of eligibility to apply for a VA Home Loan.  This is a blessing because it would allow us to get into a home with an approximate mortgage rate of 3.15% without a down payment.  We would also be exempt from Private Mortgage Insurance.  We are very anxious and excited to see where the Lord takes us over the next few weeks/months.  Please join us in prayer as we pray for our future careers and as we prepare to settle down and search for our home over the next few months.
